Baal Amrut – Suvarna Prashan

Suvarna varkha and saffron are the most precious ingredients in Baal Amrut. Suvarna is described in Ayurveda as to increase mental grasping power, vitality, immunity, promote longevity, while saffron is said to improve the complexion and develop good immunity. Whom to give?
Babies from 10 days after birth, up to the age of 5 years

Dosage:
Age 10 days to 2 years – 80 to100mg (approx. 1 pinch) once daily mixed with honey*
Age 3 to 5 years – 160 to 200 mg (approx.. 2 pinches) once daily mixed with honey*
*or as directed by the physician

How to administer?
Ayurveda recommends giving this tonic as a chaatan to the baby or child – a paste of the mixture of Baal Amrut powder and honey to be placed on the tongue or licked.
For infants – Mix 1 pinch of Baal Amrut with a drop of a good quality Honey and Place this on the infant’s tongue. Alternatively, take a drop of honey on a small spoon, add a pinch of Baal Amrut, mix and give it to the infant on the spoon.
For children (2 years+) – The same mixture may be given directly with the spoon.

When to take?
Ideally, in the morning on an empty stomach. If missed in the morning, it can be given any time of the day, preferably not immediately after feeding the baby.
